A Summer Read
Every summer Lebanon County and surrounding counties’ libraries participate in A Summer Read, a reading initiative for adults that runs from June through September. Each year this health literacy campaign selects a title to read and support with special programming.
The fifth annual Summer Read is Farmacology: Total Health from the Ground Up by Daphne Miller, M.D. Miller posits that it is the farm itself that food is grown on that is the real medicine. In Farmacology the author visits seven different farms and learns all the elements of agriculture that directly affect our health and wellness. Interwoven with the insights gained, Miller writes about the lessons learned from farmers, biomedical researchers, and her patients.
